Summit Road & Board Updates

Kathy Miller, executive director of Mount Desert 365, reports election of new Board officers Rick Savage as chair and Hank Schmelzer as treasurer, with MD365 founders Mitch and Stephen Rales assuming the role of emeritus directors.

Newly elected MD365 Board chair Rick Savage has announced that the Board of Directors has voted to give top priority to developing two year-round workforce housing units on property it owns on Summit Road in Northeast Harbor while the development of Heel Way is pending. Savage says MD365 wants to get new housing on the market as soon as possible and work on developing the site can begin almost immediately.

The organization is also creating an Advisory Board comprised of community members to gather input on the various projects it plans to pursue. The first people named to that group are David MacDonald, Cecily Cook, Laura Foulke, Maude Kusserow, Mia Thompson, and Jamie Blaine.
